Boston Center’s Annual Footsteps Tour

The Boston Center of SRF has established the tradition of hosting a pilgrimage bus tour to the places in the Boston area where Paramahansa Yogananda lectured, visited and stayed during his early years in America.  Each year, the bus tour is scheduled for the Sunday before Sept. 19, the date The City of Sparta docked in Boston Harbor in 1920.  In 2026, the tour will be held Sunday, Sept. 13. A publication, In the Footsteps of Paramahansa Yogananda, containing many of the locations visited on the tour is available below.

Sri Daya Mata, our past president of Self-Realization Fellowship, wrote this letter to the Boston Center, stating,

“Although it has been many years since he walked the streets of Boston, Guruji is ever in your hearts, a living loving presence that will become more real to you as you meditate deeply and practice his teachings.”

September 2026 Footsteps Tour

We are happy to announce the opening of registration for our September bus tour “In the Footsteps of Paramahansa Yogananda.” The tour will take place Sunday, Sept. 13 from 1 to 6 p.m. It will feature videos and readings describing the significance of the locations visited. We will also stop and disembark at two locations: Piers Park, where Paramahansaji first set foot in America; and 9 Lester Terrace, the former home of one of Paramahansaji’s first disciples in America, Sister Yogmata.

Check-in for the Sept. 13 tour will begin in the Boston Center lobby at 12:15 p.m. We will board the bus at 12:45 p.m. We expect to return to the Center at 6 p.m.

Prepayment is required to secure a seat on the bus. The cost is $45 to help defray the cost of our bus rental. We accept payment by cash and check.

All checks should be made payable to Boston Center of SRF, with “Footsteps Tour” on the memo line.

As space is limited, we recommend early registration.

There are two ways to register:

1. Please mail your check to the address below. Make sure to include the following information: your name, email address, phone number, and the names of those in your party who will attend the tour.
