Boston Center of Self-Realization Fellowship
About Boston Center of Self-Realization Fellowship
Boston Center of Self-Realization Fellowship was founded in 1920 by Paramahansa Yogananda . He came to Boston to share India’s spiritual legacy of yoga meditation with the West, and devoted his life to this work. Paramahansaji’s timeless message reveals the truth of the underlying unity of all religions, as varying expressions of God. His first lecture entitled “The Science of Religion” was delivered in October, 1920, when he attended as the delegate from India the International Congress of Religious Liberals at Unity House in Boston. His Autobiography of a Yogi, translated into over 50 languages, has become a spiritual classic.
Today Paramahansaji’s message remains a beacon for people of all nations, all races and all religions who seek to share the practice of deep meditation and spiritual study together. The Boston Center is a member of the worldwide Self-Realization Fellowship with temples, centers and groups in 175 countries and the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS). Boston Center, located in Somerville, Massachusetts, is easily accessible by mass transit and by major arteries throughout the Boston metropolitan area. Click here for directions to our Center.
Because Boston was Paramanahansa Yogananda’s “first love in America”, we are honored to share many locations where he lived, lectured and visited during his early years . We invite you to enjoy a self-guided pilgrimage to many of these places or to join us for a group tour held in September. Please visit the Historic Tours section of our website for more information.
