All-Day Christmas Meditation Dec. 14, 2024
We are very happy to announce that SRF monastics will be visiting Boston during the Christmas season. The Boston Center’s All-Day Christmas meditation will be led by Brother Nikhilananda and/or Brother Bhaskarananda.
About the All-Day Christmas Meditation
Paramahansa Yogananda said: “We in Self-Realization Fellowship believe in the true worship of Christ, the Christ in Spirit. The real celebration of Christmas is the realization within ourselves of Christ Consciousness.”
Many years ago Paramahansa Yogananda established the custom of commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ by dedicating an entire day of the Christmas season to meditation and divine communion with Christ.
Schedule for the Day
The All-Day Christmas Meditation is a wonderful tradition to add to your holiday activities. The service has two parts:
Part 1, which is usually from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a 30 minute break; and
Part 2, from 2:30 to 5 p.m.
Part 1 of the service will consist of increasingly longer periods of silent meditation interspersed with chanting and brief inspirational readings or talks. During Part 2 we will have longer periods of chanting interspersed with shorter periods of meditation.
During the break, devotees often take short walks or do their Energization Exercises outside behind the church or in the Fellowhip Hall downstairs.
Guidelines from SRF on how to prepare for the meditation are available here.
Please join us! Stay tuned for more information — and the precise start and end times of the meditation — as we near the date!
